Liquid Mechanics - Wilfredo Morel
Wilfredo Morel's sculpture "Liquid Mechanics," located at Fleischman’s Pier, formerly China Pier, is crafted from recycled pipes salvaged from the old Fleischmann’s Gin Plant, a nod to Peekskill's industrial past. The plant, once a major presence in the city, was destroyed in a tragic fire in 1918, claiming seven lives. The sculpture, made from the very pipes that once transported molasses from ships to the factory, serves as a poignant reminder of the city's history. Morel, an artist and community leader, uses recycled materials to connect his art to the communities they originate from, symbolizing renewal and transformation.
